Prices are set live by the hotel — check the booking page for a real rate for your dates.

Question 3

Can I stay in Kyrenia or Famagusta and visit the sites in the south?

Accepted Answer

You can, but plan the crossings. Kyrenia is only about 30 km from Nicosia over the mountain road, and the Agios Dometios/Metehan crossing takes cars while Ledra Street in the old city is pedestrian-only; bring your passport each time. A car hired in Limassol or Paphos normally loses cover north of the Green Line, so you buy separate insurance at the crossing for roughly €20–30 for a few days, and cars hired in the north usually cannot come south at all. Northern rooms are often €90–160 for 4- and 5-star standard, and put you next to Salamis, St Hilarion and Bellapais Abbey. Most people treat it as a two- or three-night add-on to a southern trip rather than a base for the whole island.

Question 4

What is the best area to stay in Cyprus for a first visit?

Accepted Answer

Paphos is the best first-time base, because the Nea Paphos Archaeological Park and the Tombs of the Kings are within the town itself and Kourion is 50 minutes east on the A6. It also has the widest range of 4- and 5-star hotels at €120–220 in shoulder season, plus Coral Bay 12 km north for quieter beaches. If you want restaurants, nightlife and a promenade, Limassol is the stronger choice but costs €60–100 more per night for the same standard. Larnaca suits short trips because the airport is 10 minutes from the seafront.

Question 5

When is the cheapest month to visit Cyprus?

Accepted Answer

January and February are the cheapest, with 4-star coastal rooms in Larnaca and Paphos falling to around €55–90 a night and hire cars at €18–28 a day. Days sit at 16–18°C on the coast, which is fine for Kourion, Choirokoitia and the Nicosia museums but too cool for swimming outdoors. March is nearly as cheap and drier, and the archaeological parks are almost empty. Avoid the week around Orthodox Easter, 12 April in 2026, when domestic demand pushes coastal rates up sharply.

Question 6

How many nights do you need in Cyprus?

Accepted Answer

Seven nights is the sensible minimum, split as three in Paphos, two in Limassol and two in Larnaca, which covers the main sites with about 300 km of driving. Ten to twelve nights lets you add Nicosia for the Cyprus Museum and one or two nights in Platres or Kakopetria for the painted Byzantine churches. Fourteen nights makes Kyrenia and Salamis in the north comfortable as a two- or three-night leg. A single-base fortnight does not work well, since Paphos to Ayia Napa is 190 km each way.

Question 7

How do I get from Larnaca airport to my hotel?

Accepted Answer

By taxi, Larnaca airport is roughly €50–60 to Nicosia, €55–70 to Ayia Napa, €70–80 to Limassol and considerably more to Paphos, which is 145 km away. Shared airport shuttles to Nicosia, Limassol and Ayia Napa cost about €8–15 a seat and run to the main towns rather than door to door. Car hire desks are in the terminal, and the A3 and A5 motorways start within minutes of the exit. If you are staying in Paphos or Coral Bay, check flights into Paphos airport instead — it is 15 km from Kato Paphos rather than an hour and forty minutes.
